with Barbara Marx Hubbard

http://barbaramarxhubbard-berkeley.eventbrite.com
http://birth2012.com

“Bay Area Integral is honored and delighted to present an evening with one of the world’s foremost evolutionary thinkers and activists, Barbara Marx Hubbard. In more than 40 years as a pioneer in conscious evolution, Barbara has designed and developed numerous programs that empower individuals and communities to grow into their full evolutionary potential. Through speaking engagements across the globe, through her books, and in her collaborations across many fields, Barbara has done more than anyone to bring the ideas of conscious evolution into the world.

We’re particularly excited that Barbara is choosing this occasion to propose and describe a new social synergy function to scan for, map, connect and communicate what is working in the world. If Nature is basically a hierarchy of synergistic convergence, then social synergy is one of the frontiers of conscious evolution. What are the lessons we can learn from the Kosmic Creativity inherent in nature’s 13.7 billion year trend? How do we connect what is creative for the good of the self and the whole? How can we connect what is emerging toward convergence and a whole system shift? Is eros becoming ‘telerotic?’ Are we at the threshold of the evolution of democracy itself toward ‘synocracy’, or Synergistic Democracy? How can we best use the cultural attention to 2012 to foster the emergence of 10% of humanity toward second tier awareness?

Barbara’s presentations are always lively, engaging and thought provoking so don’t miss this one!

Barbara Marx Hubbard has been called ‘the voice for conscious evolution of our time’ by Deepak Chopra and is the subject of Neale Donald Walsch's new book The Mother of Invention. A world-renowned visionary futurist, evolutionary educator and inspiring speaker, Barbara is the author of seven acclaimed books that communicate the new worldview of conscious evolution. She is teaching two seminal courses on the Shift Network, one called Agents of Conscious Evolution (ACE), bringing thousands of participants together to form a first ‘evolutionary corps’ as a global team for the planetary shift; and the other, with Patricia Ellsberg entitled Emergence: The Shift from Ego to Essence.

She is the co-founder and chair of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution, and additionally co-founded many progressive organizations, including The Association for Global New Thought, as well as The World Future Society. In 1984 her name was placed in nomination for the vice presidency of the United States on the Democratic ticket with the campaign theme ‘To Fulfill the Dream, a Campaign for a Positive Future.’ She is currently co-producing with The Shift Network a global multi-media event entitled, Birth 2012: Co-Creating a Planetary Shift in Time on December 22, 2012 which aims to unify 100 million people worldwide in heart coherence and social synergy to birth a new evolved era and a universal humanity. Barbara’s previous books include: The Hunger of Eve, The Revelation, Conscious Evolution, Emergence, and The 52 Codes for Conscious Self Evolution. Her new book Birth 2012 and Beyond: Humanity's Great Shift To the Age of Conscious Evolution is being released in May 2012 by Shift Books.”

Empty Bowls
a benefit for the Alameda County Community Food Bank
Thursday, May 31, 6:00-8:00PM
Alameda County Community Food Bank, 7900 Edgewater Drive, Oakland
$25, please purchase tickets in advance at the website below
https://npo.networkforgood.org/Donate/Donate.aspx?npoSubscriptionId=5968&code=s150512

“Join us for a delightful evening of art, nourishment and advocacy as we help fill empty bowls in our community. Enjoy a simple and delicious meal of soup and bread, bid in the silent auction, tap your toes to rousing children’s entertainment. As a reminder of the empty bowls on the tables of low-income families throughout Alameda County, take home a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted bowl created by local school children and Food Bank supporters. This annual family-oriented event educates kids and adults about the issue of hunger, teaches them about community service and raises funds for the Food Bank’s hunger-relief efforts.

The Alameda County Community Food Bank has been in business since 1985... with a vision toward a day when we can go out of business. We are the hub of a vast collection and distribution network that provides food for 275 nonprofit agencies in Alameda County. In 2011, the Food Bank distributed 20.9 million pounds of food - 54% of it fresh fruits and vegetables.

Since moving into our permanent facility near the Oakland Airport in 2005 and leading the national food bank movement for a ban on the distribution of carbonated beverages, the Food Bank has ramped up distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables by more than 1,000%.”

The Wild Forager - Gathering the Abundance of Nature
with Matt Berry
part of the Re-Skilling Workshop series
Saturday, June 2, 10:00AM-3:00PM
Commonweal Garden at the Regenerative Design Institute, Bolinas
$75
see website for directions, detailed schedule, what to bring, and registration information
http://regenerativedesign.org/the-wild-forager
http://www.regenerativedesign.org/mattbio
http://www.regenerativedesign.org/re-skilling-series

“Do you like the sound of foraging for wild food in your local landscape? Have you thought about wild foraging but haven't had the know-how or confidence to really go for it?  Then this class is for you! Learn the basic skills you need to begin your  own foraging adventures in responsible, safe, and enjoyable way.

Come out to Commonweal Garden and explore the coastal prairies, riparian zones and gardens with new eyes to discover the abundance, usefulness and beauty of wild plants. We will cover how to identify some key edible plants, discuss the superior nutritional values typically found in wild food, learn what plants to avoid and learn strategies for enhancing wild food production and sustainable harvesting methods.   We'll discuss regulations around collecting, and strategies for expanding your foraging opportunities.

You’ll also learn how to make Matt’s wild weed raw energy bars, manzanita, madrone and toyon sugar, and process wild food staples such as wapato, pond lilly, and cattails. Go home with a sampling of processed wild foods and the knowledge to be a more confident wild forager.

What is Re-Skilling?
Our ancestors, perhaps only a few generations back, were able to make what they needed for daily life or trade for what they needed with a skilled neighbor.
In this modern culture, most of us have lost the skills of basic craftsmanship. As we transition away from global consumerism and towards localized, earth-friendly economies, we need to reclaim these skills for ourselves and for our community.

Many of us have already started to re-skill around food - growing fresh vegetables in the backyard or cultivating a plot at a local community garden. This self-sustaining practice is deeply satisfying, and in the Bay Area there is a vibrant local economy around food that supports local farmers, garden teachers, restaurants, and burgeoning new vegetable landscaping businesses.

The Re-Skilling Series at RDI was inspired by our greater community's interest in learning more craftsmanship skills. Beyond growing our own vegetables, we can start re-skilling around food preservation, clothing, personal care products, furniture, and other needs of daily life.
Re-skilling requires that we connect more deeply to the natural world. It involves cultivating (or foraging) plants for basketry, building materials, medicine, general body care, dyes, food and clothing. It invites us into a closer relationship with domestic and wild animals, and asks that we pay more attention to the changing of the seasons and the cycles of the natural world. It also fosters a deeper gratitude for all that nature continues to provide us.
Re-skilling is happening all over the world - especially within communities engaged in the Transition Town  movement. Now is the time to reclaim these basic skills of local craftsmanship! We believe that joy of reclaiming these skills will increase our self-sufficiency and meet the growing needs for a local, regenerative economy.”

Masonic Lodge of San Mateo, 100 N Ellsworth Avenue, San Mateo

“Please join us, Miss Sugar Cane and Junior in dancing to the dulcet strains of Lee Presson and the Nails, who will play both hot Swing and beautiful vintage ballroom dance favorites (including waltzes, polkas, foxtrots and even a couple of tangos for Osgood and Daphne and all you other tango aficionados). And, yes, the band will play their famous arrangements of The Congress of Vienna and Sir Roger de Coverley.

There will be a pre-ball dance lesson in vintage Swing and Foxtrot for those of you who'd like to get in some practice before the ball and there will be DJ music during intermission for you insatiable dancers.

Inspired by Billy Wilder's classic romantic comedy, this ball is a great opportunity to trot out your 1920's finery. Suggested costume is evening dress of the late 1920's but vintage or modern evening dress of any kind is appropriate and costumes are admired, but not required.

There will be a light snack buffet and cold punch but no bar (It's Prohibition, sir and madam, and the ball is set in a public resort hotel ballroom!). Your potluck contributions are, of course, most welcome in the kitchen.

Oh, and if by some strange reason, you've never seen Some Like It Hot, arguably the greatest comedy in film history, rent or download it ASAP. You'll thank us. Really.”

Planetary Dance
Saturday, June 3, 11:00AM
Santos Meadow, Mt. Tamalpais State Park, 2799 Muir Woods Road, Mill Valley
http://www.planetarydance.org

"The Planetary Dance is an annual all-day ritual of healing and community renewal. It is an invitation to people all over the world to join in a dance for peace in their own communities and for peace with the Earth. It brings people of all ages and abilities together in a beautiful setting to “dance for a purpose,” much as people in traditional cultures have danced for a bountiful harvest, a successful hunt, or a happy marriage.

The Planetary Dance is a participatory dance rather than a theatrical performance. At its heart is the Earth Run, a simple dance that everybody can do. Participants are invited to run, walk, or simply stand in a series of concentric circles, creating a moving mandala. As we all move to the steady heartbeat of the drums, we become one collective body.  Each step upon the Earth becomes a prayer for healing."

Berkeley Festival and Exhibition
Sunday-Sunday, June 3-10
various venues throughout Berkeley
see website for detailed schedule of events
http://berkeley-festival.org

“A Musical Mosaic

The course of western music has been profoundly shaped by encounters of interspersing peoples - artists, migrants, traders and adventurers - that have sparked astonishing creativity over the centuries.

The 2012 Berkeley Festival (June 3-10, 2012) celebrates the finest musical fruits of these great cultural cross-fertilizations.

The Berkeley Festival and Exhibition was conceived of and founded by Robert Cole, then Director of Cal Performances, and the late Joseph Spencer, proprietor of the Musical Offering and then SFEMS president. Over the years, the Festival has presented unique and amazing events: Mark Morris Dance Group’s interpretation of Rameau’s Platee; Le Carousel du Roi, featuring dressage horses and riders executing elaborate ballets from seventeenth-century France accompanied by shawms and sackbuts in their natural setting (outdoors); and the North American premiere of a longlost Mass by Alessandro Striggio for 40 and 60 voices.”

This program presents a window into the vibrant and unique music of medieval Iberian and Occitanian culture.

And yet, despite his fearsome reputation, he is still revered as a hero in Romania, who successfully resisted an Ottoman Turkish invasion. This program includes a setting of Michel Beheim’s German poem about Vlad, music of the Byzantine court and church, Italian and French dances, Balkan folk songs, Turkish music, German songs, and the Lamentation for the Fall of Constantinople by Guillaume Dufay.

Transit of Venus
Tuesday, June 5, 3:04-9:46PM
http://www.transitofvenus.org
http://sunearthday.nasa.gov/transitofvenus

“A transit of Venus occurs when Venus passes directly between the sun and earth.  This alignment is rare, coming in pairs that are eight years apart but separated by over a century.

The next transit of Venus occurs June 5 or 6, 2012, depending on your location.  Observers in North America see it the evening of June 5. This will be the last transit of Venus to occur in your lifetime.

The most recent transit of Venus was a thrilling sight in 2004.  After the June 2012 transit of Venus (the last one in your lifetime), the next such alignment occurs in 2117.”

WaterSongLine
Igniting an International Call for Healing the Waterways and Earth
Tuesday, June 5
locations all over the world - see website for local events
http://watersongline.com
http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/transit/venus0412.html

“WaterSongLine is an on going collaborative effort to join together all our prayers for the waters across languages, cultures, and peoples. It grew out of dreams, messages, visions and the energy of the Mother Waters and Earth in her many forms urging us on - letting us know that the time is now to send the healing out. With the awakening of the spirit of the Watersongline, we recognize that our prayers are the streams that form the oceans of our existence. As we weave all our prayers together the ocean of existence grows stronger, more powerful, and more healing for all our relations.

Lighting Of The Lights Ceremony, June 5-6, Venus Transit
Join the WaterSongLine. We invite all wisdom keepers and all around the world to this historic event where we launch the beginning of the WaterSongline, and when we as a planet renew the pact we have with the Mother Waters and Earth, and ignite some powerful healing for the world. We do this through one of the most ancient ceremonies of propitiation to the universal Mother Waters and Earth - The Lighting of the Lights Ceremony. There are many ways to light a sacred fire and bless the waters in traditions across the world, such as in the Native American, African, and Asian Nations. We honor all these ways and converge them all together for this auspicious time of healing.   This will be the first time these sacred fire and water healing ceremonies will be done by cultures from all over the world unifying their energies together. This promises to be a powerful moment.

We have timed the ceremony with the famous Venus Transit which happens only once every 150 years. The transit marks the coming in of the cosmic feminine energy of love, compassion, cooperation, and earth renewal. Astrology tells us it is important for all to pray at this time. The ceremony falls on the date of World Environmental Day and two days latter is  World Ocean Day. How auspicious! We honor both these days, as well.”

CAYA’s Transit of Venus event is a WaterSongLine event!

Art of Tarot with Rabbit
Wednesday, June 6, 7:30-9:30PM,
and five more Wednesdays, June 13, 20, 27, July 11 and 18
(skipping July 4th for a Store Holiday)
The Sacred Well, 536 Grand Avenue, Oakland, 510-444-9355
$35 per class or $200 for all 6 classes
http://www.sacredwell.com/classes-events

“Rabbit brings back one of her most popular classes, specifically designed to help you learn to tune in and trust your own intuition as a reader of tarot.

Sure, you can just look in the book at the traditional meaning of the cards, but in order to truly be a reader you must learn to listen carefully when they whisper their secrets in your mind. This class will get you OFF the book and help you turn ON your own personal intuition.

Rabbit's unique method will have you able to offer accurate readings after your very first class, as long as you are willing to dare to believe yourself and trust your inner voice. Practical exercises and demonstration readings take place in each class, so you have the opportunity to give and receive practice readings, trouble-shoot areas of insecurity, and begin to build your internal reference library of tarot symbolism.

This class fills up quickly, and space is limited, so please call 510-4449355 to reserve your spot today.”
