“Get ready for a Muir Woods’ tradition, the annual Winter Solstice celebration on December 21. Under a full moon, experience the longest night of the year among the world’s tallest tree species, the coast redwoods. Rain or clear skies, dress warmly against the chill, bring a flashlight, and a mug for a warm beverage, and meet us in front of the Visitor Center.
Join the California Revels choristers and the Muir Woods staff as they carol and dance the mysterious Abbots-Bromley Stag Horn Dance amid the ageless Redwoods.  Arrive early. Parking is limited.”

Honoring Our Spirit Babies
Thursday, December 22, 5:00-7:00PM
First Unitarian Universalist Church of SF, 1187 Franklin Street, San Francisco
Free event, all are welcome
http://spiritbabies.org

“Honoring Our Spirit Babies is an event for women and their loved ones to remember and honor their spirit babies - the unborn who were lost due to miscarriage, abortion, or still birth.
This event is for people to come together in a sacred space to honor themselves, their lost babies, and one another. It will be held on the winter solstice, the darkest day of the year, and the beginning of the growing light.

We hope that each person who comes will leave feeling more whole in herself, at peace in her life.”

Thanks to Tiki for letting me know about this event!

Scrooge Reads A Christmas Carol!

Free

A message from Martin Harris, the actor who is magically transported from England to our fair shores each year to play Scrooge at the Dickens Fair:

“Greetings

Ebenezer Scrooge here, so pay attention!

Last minute news.
The Berkeley City Club new management had, for reasons unknown, not given me a date to give my dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol that now has quite a following every year but suddenly today the new Events Organizer calls asking if I would give a reading this Thursday, yes in three days time!  Of course the answer was YES! and they are very keen to help make this work...so can you help too and spread the word please, you never know who may be looking for something to do Thursday?
We all would like the Berkeley City Club to continue in it's support of all things Dickens, so lets encourage their new management please.

And it's FREE to all those who come! .... Imagine that, Scrooge giving something away?!

So it's the Berkeley City Club in the historic Julia Morgan Building.

Thursday, December 22nd,  7:00 for 7:30 with light refreshments before with carolers singing.  They have a world famous restaurant on the same level upstairs that takes reservations if you would like to eat beforehand and make it a complete evening of Christmas celebrations.
The food is very good... well better than my bowl of gruel anyway!

I will have my CDs and DVD of my readings there as well which make a very special gift, especially when signed by Scrooge himself.

Yes it's last minute but this is an opportunity to share the wonderful message of Christmas that is truly illustrated in this amazing story.
So bring friends and make a family evening of this around the crackling fire.

God Bless Us, Everyone!

Martin”
