Ancient cultures considered dreams as messages from the gods, and recorded them in myth and legend. This film takes us on a journey into Native American, Aboriginal, Tibetan, Jewish, Christian, and Islamic religious traditions to show how dreams have shaped the worlds in which we live. How does the spiritual aspect of dreaming manifest in modern times? Michelle will share examples from her workshops and participants are welcome to share relevant stories of their own.
The Dream Institute is an experimental cultural center founded in 2003. It has come into being during this time known as the shift or the great turning. Our offerings include weekend workshops, daylong seminars, evening salons, film series, professional training, art exhibits, retreats, and dream-based performances. “The time will come when it will be auspicious to be born into the body of a woman. This is a ‘prophecy’ that came in novel I am working on called Daughter of Beautiful Promises. Not long after, I was deeply moved by a Buddhist documentary where an aging nun was crying, wishing to be reborn as a man so she could practice and become enlightened. I strongly believe that now is the time when it is auspicious to be born into the body of a woman.
Women are being called to come into their full power, to awaken the divine feminine qualities of love, compassion, forgiveness, patience and wisdom that the world so needs to come back into balance. The Dalai Lama, Mata Amritanandamayi and many other spiritual leaders and thinkers are calling women to guide the world into a new era by bringing forward the innate qualities of the divine feminine into ourselves, our communities and the world. It is my deepest heart’s desire to answer this call and be a part of a positive change.
As women in this modern world, we are often struggling with day to day existence, trying to balance families, work, friendships, creative pursuits and spiritual practice, and yet there is this calling to offer. Maybe answering the calling begins by not buying into what has been created for us. I believe we need to find a place of stillness in the constant motion and noise to be able to deeply listen and hear the inner voice of guidance. We need places of gathering women together for support, envisioning and creating.
We are blessed with having many amazing women teachers and leaders who have broken new ground, role models who can inspire us. Yet all of us can participate in this change in small or large ways. What is your vision? As a woman, and perhaps as a mother, grandmother, a wife, an artist, a healer, a lover of life, what is it that you want most, for yourself, for others and for the world? And how do you think we as women can walk the path?”

We are delighted to present this year's featured artist, Natalie Cox. Natalie has been a professional harpist, specializing in all forms of classical music, for thirty-five years. Natalie is well versed in solo, chamber, and orchestral playing and is principal harpist with the Oakland East Bay Symphony and the Festival Opera Orchestra.
Natalie teaches lever and pedal harp, both privately and at Dominican University in San Rafael. She also founded Harps of Orpheus, a performing student ensemble, to promote the joy of learning and making music with friends and colleagues. “The time will come when it will be auspicious to be born into the body of a woman. This is a ‘prophecy’ that came in novel I am working on called Daughter of Beautiful Promises. Not long after, I was deeply moved by a Buddhist documentary where an aging nun was crying, wishing to be reborn as a man so she could practice and become enlightened. I strongly believe that now is the time when it is auspicious to be born into the body of a woman.
Women are being called to come into their full power, to awaken the divine feminine qualities of love, compassion, forgiveness, patience and wisdom that the world so needs to come back into balance. The Dalai Lama, Mata Amritanandamayi and many other spiritual leaders and thinkers are calling women to guide the world into a new era by bringing forward the innate qualities of the divine feminine into ourselves, our communities and the world. It is my deepest heart’s desire to answer this call and be a part of a positive change.
As women in this modern world, we are often struggling with day to day existence, trying to balance families, work, friendships, creative pursuits and spiritual practice, and yet there is this calling to offer. Maybe answering the calling begins by not buying into what has been created for us. I believe we need to find a place of stillness in the constant motion and noise to be able to deeply listen and hear the inner voice of guidance. We need places of gathering women together for support, envisioning and creating.
We are blessed with having many amazing women teachers and leaders who have broken new ground, role models who can inspire us. Yet all of us can participate in this change in small or large ways. What is your vision? As a woman, and perhaps as a mother, grandmother, a wife, an artist, a healer, a lover of life, what is it that you want most, for yourself, for others and for the world? And how do you think we as women can walk the path?”

We are delighted to present this year's featured artist, Natalie Cox. Natalie has been a professional harpist, specializing in all forms of classical music, for thirty-five years. Natalie is well versed in solo, chamber, and orchestral playing and is principal harpist with the Oakland East Bay Symphony and the Festival Opera Orchestra.
Natalie teaches lever and pedal harp, both privately and at Dominican University in San Rafael. She also founded Harps of Orpheus, a performing student ensemble, to promote the joy of learning and making music with friends and colleagues. A Bay Area tradition since 1970, the Great Dickens Christmas Fair returns to the San Francisco Cow Palace Exhibition Halls for four weekends in 2010, including the Friday after Thanksgiving, from Friday, November 25 through Sunday, December 18 from 11:00AM 'til 7:00PM.
Created by Ron and Phyllis Patterson, the fair is now produced by Kevin and Leslie Patterson and Red Barn Productions, who continue the family tradition of theatrical excellence through authenticity, participation, and playfulness.
Come wander the lanes of Victorian London, as the glow of twilight settles upon the city, with the scent of pine boughs and freshly baked scones floating in the air and the sound of carolers and holiday merrymakers accompanying your stroll.”

“Clare Cooper Marcus will take you on a soulful journey through images and words to the magical Scottish island of Iona, based on her new book, Iona Dreaming. You will hear how she first visited this place during cancer treatment and then lived there on six-month solitary retreat. The island landscape awakened her soul and dreams pointed the way to changes needed in her life after retirement from academia. Participants will be encouraged to think about their own special healing places and how these can provide solace and guidance. Refreshments served.
Clare Cooper Marcus is professor emerita in the departments of architecture and landscape architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, and author of Healing Gardens: Therapeutic Benefits and Design Recommendations and The House as Mirror of Self.
The Dream Institute is an experimental cultural center founded in 2003. It has come into being during this time known as the shift or the great turning. Our offerings include weekend workshops, daylong seminars, evening salons, film series, professional training, art exhibits, retreats, and dream-based performances.
