“The film follows the life of a family inexorably tied to the railroad lost in Kazakh steppes, with this sepia-toned tale of an elderly blind lineman whose keen senses can check the soundness of the tracks, which his son watches, better than any modern computer. His son faces the problem of choice, to believe the machine invented by a human or to trust intuition of his father. The ageing lineman who has been checking the tracks for decades reflects on his life's work and the accomplishments that have fueled progress in his homeland over the years. As a result we have a uniquely touching film-parable about several generations of hard working men. The expressive musical score plays a significant role in the movie.

“Learn new and traditional practices for American folk magic, known also as Hoodoo, Rootwork, Hedge Witchery and Conjure.
Discussions and training will include the following topics:
Conjuring energy and spirits from herbs, stones, minerals, and animal curios.
Working with the ancestors and the use of graveyard dirt and bone curios.
Techniques and uses for psalms, seals and personal sigils.
Formularies and hands on instruction on concocting oils, powders, baths and other magical apothecaries.
This class plots a course intended to help you evolve as a Rootworker, covering history, spiritual cleansing, psychic development, the arts of hexing and healing, building relationships with the divine world around us, and much more.
For this class we will examine how to conjure the power found in herbs. As a foundation for making our own apothecary products throughout the class we will work with herbal allies to create an herb blend used for money drawing. We will approach this work according to the Doctrine of Signatures and shamanic exploration of the spirits within herbs. We will also examine various other methods traditionally used for money drawing.
Chas Bogan is an artist and mystic, having studied and practiced many diverse forms of metaphysics for the past 25 years. That experience is reflected in his art, which ranges from the design of unique divination tools to various other forms of sacred expression. His shamanic talents have lead him to create various collections of spiritual supplies crafted for Modern Conjure Brand, such as baths; oils; powders; waters; and more. He is available for consultations and spiritual work by appointment Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; during which
he may be serving my clients in my capacity as a Reiki Master Teacher; Rootworker; Tarot Reader; Conjure Doctor. He teaches various magical arts including the Feri Tradition of which he is an initiate.”

“One hour before sunrise on December 3rd, 2012 the planets Mercury, Venus and Saturn directly align with the Giza Pyramids in Egypt! From an esoteric point of view one may look at this as a very beneficial sign in that the conjunction of these planets may be indicating a victory or a grounding of the energies of Love as represented by Venus on the Earth through a lot of dedication and hard work (Saturn) of the Lightworkers, the messengers of the divine (Mercury).
It is also very interesting to consider that we are at the end of a 25,920 year cycle in the precession of the equinox, which occurs on December 21,2012. December 3 is 18 days prior to the 21st. If you add up the minutes in 18 days, (60 minutes X 24 hours X 18 days) it adds up to 25,920 minutes. 18 is also 6+6+6.

The International Museum of Women is pleased to present a Salon Speaker Series event featuring Wonder Women! director Kristy Guevara-Flanagan in conversation with comics writer and expert Trina Robbins, and moderated by IMOW executive director Clare Winterton. Join us to see clips from the film and hear how the Wonder Woman TV series became Guevara-Flanagan’s initial inspiration for the documentary.

Kristy Guevara-Flanagan has produced and directed several films documenting the experiences of girls and young women including Going on 13, El Corrido de Cecilia Rios and now Wonder Women! Guevara-Flanagan has an MFA in Film Production from San Francisco State University and teaches at Diablo Valley College.
Trina Robbins is a San Francisco-based writer, collector and expert on the history of women in the comics industry. She has authored numerous books on the subject including Women and the Comics, A Century of Women Cartoonists,The Great Women Superheroes, From Girls to Grrrlz: A History of Women’s Comics from Teens to Zines, and The Great Women Cartoonists. Her final and definitive history of women cartoonists, Pretty in Ink, is scheduled for August, 2013, publication.”

"The Snow Queen is one of Hans Christian Andersen's dark (and bright) fairy tales, in which a courageous young person sets off on a quest to see what has become of her missing best friend.
Join us for a journey through an enchanted land where flowers speak in riddles and the birds and beasts may be your guides. Explore what it means to be a witch (we’ll meet several) and what it means to be lost and found again. Inhabiting this tale, we’ll discover how telling your story and asking for what you need can be the most magical tools of them all.
Fairy tale classes work with and within a story as one does at witch camps, only we get to go home for a week in between. We will use such magical tools as tale telling, spell casting, trance, song, movement, meditation, writing, and sacred theater as we inhabit this story together.
